Wake Up & Lead

Not sure who keeps lying and telling people that leaders are born. Leaders are not born. They are made.

One can wake up one day and decide they want to lead but it doesn't happen overnight. Being a leader can either be in terms of leading themselves to success or helping others. Unless you’re improving the ways you lead, you must stay consistent. By this I mean that you can’t just lead one day and boss others around the next.

Don’t Boss Others Around

Being a leader doesn't mean you get to boss others around. It means you help bring up people. You influence and motivate them. You encourage them in ways they can’t alone. Some people are better at being followers because that’s how they choose to go about life. It’s not a bad thing. It’s just how they decide to lives their lives and just because a leader notices that doesn't give them permission to take advantage of it.

Be Considerate

To be a leader doesn't mean that you do whatever you want. You must always take into consideration how an idea or action will affect others. A person can easily act upon selfish decisions that will benefit only themselves and leave collateral damage. LEADERS will always consider their actions and how they will affect those around them.

You can’t make plans for a group of people without listening to what they have to say. Everyone’s opinion counts. When you hear a plan that you think will completely fail don’t just tell someone that their plan sucks. For some people, those words hit deep. Leaders don’t put others down. Instead, bring in your ideas or other team member’s ideas that may make the plan better.

Work Hard

To be leader doesn't mean you get to sit back and relax. You must work hard. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. There’s hardly any rest. Friends, family, co-workers, and everyone who notices how well you lead will come to you for help/advice. They see how hard you work and how far you have come.

Stay Humble

When do you see a [great] leader ever show off what they have and what they can do? Never. A great leader stays humble all the way through from start to finish. Staying humble leaves a lasting impression on others. It shows a lot in a person when they are able to stay humble. They don’t let materialistic things or others people’s opinions get to their heads.

What do you feel makes a great leader?
